KOA Hawaiian Guitar

with Original case

by OSCAR SCHMIDT

A hollow-neck Koa lap slide guitar

Similar in many respects to the famous Weissenborn guitars except the Hilo guitars are ladder braced and the Weissenborn guitars are X braced. These have a slightly deeper neck profile.

This guitar has been used in studio for recording and I believe a couple of pickups and output sockets fitted. These, now removed had left holes which have now been grain matched and cleated with figured Koa. Several detailed photo's have been added below to accurately show this.

The bridge sits nicely showing no separation and only light bellying between the braces located from the soundhole to bridge. A very nice example that shows light - acceptable wear for it's years.

For that wonderful sweet original
Hawaiian vintage sound.

Enjoy the many photo's.
